چکیده

Trash deposits in aquatic environments have a destructive effect on marine ecosystems and pose a long-term economic and environmental threat. Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) could very well contribute to the solution of this problem by finding and eventually removing trash. A step towards this goal is the successful detection of trash in underwater environments. This paper evaluates a number of deep-learning algorithms to the task of visually detecting trash in realistic underwater environments, with the eventual goal of exploration, mapping, and extraction of such debris by using AUVs. A large and publicly-available dataset of actual debris in open-water locations is annotated for training a number of convolutional neural network architectures for object detection. The trained networks are then evaluated on a set of images from other portions of that dataset, providing insight into approaches for developing the detection capabilities of an AUV for underwater trash removal. In addition, the evaluation is performed on three different platforms of varying processing power, which serves to assess these algorithms’ fitness for realtime applications.

Oil spill detection using in Sentinel-1 satellite images based on Deep learning concepts

Awareness of the marine area is very important for crisis management in the event of an accident. Oil spills are one of the main threats to the marine and coastal environments and seriously affect the marine ecosystem and cause political and environmental concerns because it seriously affects the fragile marine and coastal ecosystem. The rate of discharge of pollutants and its related effects o...

A New Method for Detecting Ships in Low Size and Low Contrast Marine Images: Using Deep Stacked Extreme Learning Machines

Detecting ships in marine images is an essential problem in maritime surveillance systems. Although several types of deep neural networks have almost ubiquitously used for this purpose, but the performance of such networks greatly drops when they are exposed to low size and low contrast images which have been captured by passive monitoring systems. On the other hand factors such as sea waves, c...

Fast Unsupervised Automobile Insurance Fraud Detection Based on Spectral Ranking of Anomalies

Collecting insurance fraud samples is costly and if performed manually is very time consuming. This issue suggests usage of unsupervised models. One of the accurate methods in this regards is Spectral Ranking of Anomalies (SRA) that is shown to work better than other methods for auto insurance fraud detection specifically. However, this approach is not scalable to large samples and is not appro...

Tumor Detection and Morphology Assessment in the Liver Tissue Using an Automatic Tactile Robot

In this paper an automatic examination robot was developed to improve the process of cancer detection, tumor localization and geometrical shape diagnosis. A uniformly distributed compressive load was applied to the top tissue surface and the resultant mechanical stress was measured that was employed for the tumor diagnosis task. The experimental examinations were performed on the soft tissue of...

Detection of Mo geochemical anomaly in depth using a new scenario based on spectrum–area fractal analysis

Detection of deep and hidden mineralization using the surface geochemical data is a challenging subject in the mineral exploration. In this work, a novel scenario based on the spectrum–area fractal analysis (SAFA) and the principal component analysis (PCA) has been applied to distinguish and delineate the blind and deep Mo anomaly in the Dalli Cu–Au porphyry mineralization area. The Dalli miner...
